The Ice Dream Sundays Book Cover
The Inspiration…
Louise Walden-Edwards, the driving force behind Ice Skating Children’s Book, “The Ice Dream Sundays”. Her journey is a testament to passion, resilience, and a commitment to inclusivity in sport. As an author, Louise brings a unique perspective shaped by her own experiences. Louise has a desire to inspire others.
The Ice Skating Children’s Book titled “The Ice Dream Sundays” was released for general sale on the 23rd September 2025. Inspired by Louise’s own ice skating journey and her passion for inclusion. The book has a centralised theme around inclusion and diversity in sport, particularly ice skating.
Louise says…
“I created the concept back in 2017 when I was forced to retire from professional sport due to bad health. I wrote the words in 2018 and then slowly created the illustrations over time. Once I had both the words and the pictures complete, I put them both away in a drawer at home. In all honesty I was too scared to make my dream a reality. Finally earlier this year, I found the courage to take a leap of faith. I worked with someone to help me format the book, illustrations and bring my story and my characters to life.”
The Story…
“The Ice Dream Sundays” story is told by the main character Mia Estelle (M.E.). She is a shy little girl, lacking in confidence and acceptance. One Sunday Mia is taken to the ice rink by her Mum, initially she is reluctant to try something new. She is totally unaware that her life is about to change forever. In actual fact, Mia discovers an unexpected dream. A passion and perhaps the most valuable lesson ever, in that being different gives her somewhere she belongs…with many others who feel just the same.
Mia finds her best friends who also feel a little bit different. All with characteristics and qualities that in alternative circumstances make them feel like they stand out for the wrong reasons. In the ice rink and on the ice however, those differences actually bring them together and give them strength to follow their dreams.
Louise says…
“What this book has always been about is trying to increase participation in sport. By encouraging others to follow their dreams no matter what. Embracing our differences, being proud of who we are and inspiring people to believe they deserve to succeed and belong, by being themselves. If I manage to encourage any of this at all, my journey from concept to creation will have been worth it.”
